General Staff inspects Truong Sa island district, DK1 platform

On April 10, in Vung Tau, the  working team of the Vietnam People’s Army General Staff led by Lt.Gen. Pham Hong Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, reviewed their trip to Truong Sa island district and DK1 platform.

After hearing units’ reports on the implementation of tasks in 2016 and first quarter in 2017, the working team praised achievements of cadres, soldiers, and people on islands, rocks, platforms and ships on duty and pointed shortcomings to be overcome. The working team visited and presented gifts to cadres, officers, and soldiers on duty and people living in Truong Sa area. They attended the flag saluting ceremony, offered incense at President Ho Chi Minh memorial house, war martyrs’ monument, Gen. Tran Hung Dao  monument, General Vo Nguyen Giap monument, and pagodas in Truong Sa (Spratly), Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay), Son Ca (Sand Cay), and Nam Yet (Namyit) islands. The delegation hosted a ceremony to commemorate martyrs who died on Truong Sa archipelago (Collins Reef) and Vietnam’s southern continental shelf.
