Promoting parliamentary cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary

After  her official visit to Sweden, National Assembly Chairwoman  Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan arrived in Budapest, starting  her official visit to Hungary from 8  - 11 April at the invitation of the Hungarian Parliament Speaker Kover Laszlo.

On April 9th , Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Hungarian  National Assembly Deputy Speaker Jakab Istvan.

At  the meeting, NA Chairwoman Ngan stressed that Vietnam always treasured  stayed grateful  for the precious and effective assistance of the Hungarian people  to the Vietnamese people in  the  struggle for national liberation and  current national construction. Hungary has helped Vietnam train thousands of cadres and engineers in different areas, with many holding important positions in the State apparatus and in other socio-economic  sectors.

In her words , the visit is s to promote the relationship between the two parliaments, contributing to deepen the relationship between the two countries.

Adding that a law and legal workshop  between the two parliaments  during her visit to Hungary would be  practical, Chairwoman Ngan also invited Hungarian  NA Deputy Speaker to  Vietnam and co-chair  a workshop on  agriculture and irrigation.

In agreement  with Chairwoman Ngan,  Deputy Speaker Jakab Istvan stressed that this would be the first workshop held based on the agreement between the two Parliaments signed in 2008. In the future, to extend the success in education cooperation, Hungary has expanded opportunities for Vietnamese students by doubling itsscholarship slots.

Showing his pleasure with Vietnamese cadres and engineers trained in Hungary who are having important contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, Deputy Speaker  Jakab Istvan said that they were a bridge to strengthen the friendship between the two countries, as “ambassadors” of Hungary and vice versa.

On the same day, the Vietnamese top legislator visited Szentendre city. At the working session with Vietnam delegation,  Vice Mayor Dorottya Gyurk warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and the high-level delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam to Szentendre, the twin city of Hoi An City of  Quang Nam Province. Ms. Gyurk Durottya congratulated the official visit to Hungary and expressed her belief that the visit would further strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation between two countries.

             NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan thanked for the warm welcome  of  Vice Mayor Gyurk Durottya and discussed  the socio-economic situation, the promotion of the strengths and characteristics of an old city with many similarities with Hoi An City of Vietnam. She showed her hope that the vice mayor will encourage Szentendre enterprises to intensify cooperation with Vietnamese localities, especially in culture and tourism.

While in Hungary, NA Chairwoman Ngan also visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met its staff and the Vietnamese community here ./.
